Slippery Slope

Sorry for the lack of update in the blog, I have felt inadequate to continue in unpacking the life work and death of Jesus. I will get back to it soon.

I was in the car for 6 hours today and wrote a poem as a reflection of recent events.

When did it start, O slippery slope
That men once great can betray their hope
Where did it start, O slippery slope
My sorrow so great I cannot cope

Men of God who once stood tall
Neglect His Word they slip and fall
Men of God who once were called
Forsaking Him forfeiting all

My hope is found at the cross
Where all my gains are counted loss
All my righteousness cannot suffice
Apart from Jesus' sacrifice

For men once great I shed my tears
Because of slippery slopes I walk in fear
For fallen men I shed my tears
But to the cross I'll draw near

Holy Spirit help me see
The slippery slopes that surrounds me
Holy Spirit help me see
That I may always follow thee

My joy is found at the cross
Where all my life is counted loss
That I be free from my sinfulness
Because of Jesus Christ's righteousness

Of such grace I cannot dream
That by His blood I was redeemed
Of such glory I cannot dream
That I'll be face to face with Him

My life is found at the cross
Where all things else are counted loss
I no longer fear. O slippery slopes
Because of Christ my assured hope
